Based on the semiconductor material silicon carbide (SiC), the power transistor is more efficient at high temperatures and voltages than conventional silicon MOSFETs. Since the SiC MOSFET can switch or amplify electrical current, it is particularly suitable for applications with high voltages and/or high temperatures or where fast switching frequencies are required for efficient power conversion.
