Optocoupler

Also known as an optocoupler or optocoupler device, an optocoupler is an electronic component that is used to establish an electrical connection between two separate electrical circuits while maintaining optical isolation between them. This is accomplished through the use of light transmission elements, typically an LED on the input side and a photodetector (photodetector) such as a phototransistor or photodarlington on the output side.
